Local sledding spots in BaselHere is a collection of local sledding spots recommended on various Facebook posts and via this map found in Tageswoche.
|
- St. Chrischona: Nice hill in front of the restaurant. Works well even with just a small bit of snow.
- Spalenberg, BS: Snow does not often stick in the city. But rumor has it that when it does, the hill through the old town is great fun
- St Margarethan, BS: Hay bales are added at the bottom to keep the kids from sledding out into the road
- Wasserturm, Bruderholz Basel
- Hoffstettermatte: Park just 50m before Restaurant Bergmatt there is a bit fast hill for sledging. Its a bit bumpy but lots of space for all
- Klus, Aesch
- Dornach: has a field that runs down to the road. They put a wooden edge along the road to stop overruns. It is a short run but great for kids. Huge hill in Birspark playground.
- Reinach: If there is enough snow, the following roads and paths are prepared as toboggan runs and signaled accordingly:
- Wenkenpark
- Stettenlochweg
- Moosweg in the section Nollenbrunnenweg to Moosrainwegli
- Der krumme Weg (forest path) & Chrischonawegli to Binsenackerstrasse
- Ausserbergweg (section of the forest path)
- Lamperstalweg (forest path).
- Lärchenweg (forest path).
- Hubackerweg: A local spot is on just as you go into the woods. About 100 m run, and sometimes a guy on the corner serves tea
- Gempen:
- Schoenmatt
- Near Gempen mountain, close to the big antenna. Take the Hochwald Bus from the Dornach train station. When there is a lot of traffic, BLT even send extra buses up with a Sledge Trailer! And you can either stay up there or slide all the way back down to Dornach or Arlesheim.
- Wasserfallen, Reigoldswil: Take the bus from Aeschenplatz for a four-kilometer sled track. Sleds can be rented.
Further away...
- snow.myswitzerland.com You can filter the snow report by Tobogganing, and even by difficulty for beginner, advanced, etc.
- Toboggan run Preda – Bergün: At six kilometres, it is Europe's longest floodlit sledging run
- Grindelwald Bus
- Feldberg: 1 hr drive from Basel (35 mins from Lörrach) in Schwarzwald, excellent for skiing, sledging, good restaurants and friendly service. Parking can be a bit of a problem, best arrive early before 9.30 & park along the main road close to Skischule OnSnow or around Feldberger Hof
- Engelberg
- Belchen (including recommended Todtnau : A long run with rental)
